Rad Stoic #001

Hey! This is the first newsletter from The Rad Stoic! As the next hundred folks come on board, we will make this look a bit more official.

So far, across the books that I have read and underlined passages, I am up to 315 things that have caught my eye. In my posts and my newsletter, I will leave it to a random number generator to select three of those passages and provide a short analysis dovetailing them to the best of my ability. It's like The Daily Stoic but like it was in the NBA and needed to become a superteam.

So let's do it!!!!

===================

"Could you be doing more? Could you be trying harder?"
-- Ryan Holiday, The Obstacle is the Way

"Do not cling to life. Live the best life before you while recognizing it will not last forever."
-- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

"Become who you are by learning who you are"
-- Robert Greene, Mastery

===================

While coaching my daughter's basketball practice tonight, as the girls were doing rocket runs (we don't call them what we used to call them in the 90s), I just repeated "you don't need me to tell you to give it your all."

As you give it your all, you will learn just where your boundaries lie. And they are usually farther from your comfort zone that you might expect - you just don't push yourself enough. Because it is uncomfortable. Do you want to try harder? Can you try harder? When did you not try your best and were you proud of yourself after? Whatever the endeavor.

You will live the best life before you when you search for and approach your boundaries. Maybe knock on the wall - maybe take a sledgehammer to them.

When you approach your end which comes for all of us with no guarantee of next year or next month, you will look back and realize there is absolutely nothing more I could have done - I tried my best. And that is peace at its utmost (or so I fathom). So do it now.
